@terrana I think "maker" mostly exists to be on the same generic level as "inventor", except for making things instead of inventing things. There really wasn't a generic word for that before someone came up with "maker". It does also convey some level of enthusiasm as well, just like calling yourself an "inventor" - you're not necessarily doing it because you're forced to.
@Dee when I throw broken hardware into the recycling I need to start checking first if Wikipedia needs an image, because if so, I need to capture one where it is mid air, sailing towards the dumpster
@codl short film people will probably happily hire you as well, as long as you can do it on a shoe string budget, and besides, just publicizing them helps a ton
also they can just be straight up more interesting and tackle subjects no large movie would tackle, so might be more fun to work with as well
@codl go to youtube, search for "short film", and in filters select "creative commons", then you will get a ton of short films, often without any subtitles, that you can caption clips from, they should all be CC BY licensed
