i am hearing amusing things about the steam deck's default OS (namely that it's a shitshow)
the bashrc checks whether the root filesystem is read-write by probing it with tune2fs

the rootfs is btrfs

they use A/B partitions despite having btrfs

@flussence genuine question: how does btrfs make A/B partitions obsolete? Half the point is that you can completely fuck up one partition and it can still boot and recover

@ChlorideCull it's a lot cheaper in terms of disk space to have one big partition and snapshots

...but i guess this is the type of thing where completely fucking up the partition is going to happen. just weird that they'd have both layers then not use the higher level one
