China, propaganda

why is it that I can only find two types of articles:

* all western media only spread lies about China, China does literally nothing wrong
* China is horrible, there is nothing good in China

Both of these fail any basic scrutiny

China, propaganda

Given how our state television was treated when they went to Xinjiang, there's definitely something going on there - hard to say exactly what (which is the point), but it's definitely not all fine and dandy.

It's fun to read about businesses complaining about Chinese companies though, given that those complaints are usually baseless.

All countries are capable of producing propaganda in different ways, some more blatant than others.

@ChlorideCull propaganda machines figured out how to SEO

re: China, propaganda

@clarjon1 not just that, it's that there's virtually no unaffiliated sources for anything on China that doesn't trace back to official state sources

the only way to genuinely find out what happened in a lot of events involve building an undercover network, because people tend to not want to speak against a state if they know the state knows, that goes for any country except the ones with the highest press freedoms
