death ment but not really negative

thinking about making a document for if I happen to die or end up in a long term coma

It's pretty easy to deal with physical stuff, but it's not like my folks have any clue who I know on the internet or the stuff I take care of

I would really like it if everyone actually got told if something happened to me, and that I don't just, like, disappear

at the same time, stuff online changes fast, so just handing everyone a paper is probably not a good idea, it would need to be something like "go to this page on my site and fill in this key" where the key is split among everyone

@ChlorideCull I feel like there's gotta be some kind of service willing to hold permalinks to something like this.

re: death ment but not really negative

@ChlorideCull I thought about solutions with email bots and delayed responses if you do not stop it, but then it occurred to me that if you were willing to trust them with the info written on a piece of paper, you might as well give them the credentials to the living document version? For such a system the most important thing would be reliability, so the simpler it is the better

@errant my solution right now is a cheap domain with hosting from the registrar, renewed one year before expiry

document is encrypted with RSA and decrypted in-browser with JS, private key split among my parents and my sister using shamir's secret sharing scheme

I essentially want to put zero trust on the server, since if the content were to be revealed, I would need to replace every single password, and have some uncomfortable discussions

and at the same time, I don't want anyone breaking into one of their places getting hold of it either

@errant like, one of the biggest issues I run into with this is simply that it has to keep running for up to a year after I'm gone, so it can't be expensive or require maintenance
