@ChlorideCull @socketwench satire aside, honestly never understood why we didn't stick with "plug" and "socket" over male/female. It's much clearer.

@calcifer @socketwench they don't map perfectly, plug and socket have more to do with what parts move (at least with their formal definitions), meaning there are cases where that's not terminology you can use, just like there's cases where male/female doesn't apply for a connector as a whole

also, male/female is older, as it comes from plumbing and mechanical hardware

honestly dom/sub is about as useful as the alternatives
